Published on 28 August 2022 by Mike Motilall

Max Verstappen was voted, for the fourth time now this season, ‘Driver of the Day’ after having won the Belgian Grand Prix. During the race on Spa-Francorchamps, fans worldwide cast their votes of which the Dutchman ultimately amassed the most.

Verstappen started from P14 on the grid after receiving a penalty for exceeding the allowed amount of engine parts. He then managed to quickly advance to the front of the field. After lap eight, the Dutchman was running in third place already and after the first round of pit stops, Max was able to make small work of race leader Carlos Sainz on lap 18. After that, the race win was never a question for Verstappen.

With a 17-second lead on team mate Sergio Perez, Max was again triumphant, for the ninth time now, this season. Verstappen was also able to lay claim to the final point for fastest lap, giving him a massive lead of 93 points in the championship compared to team mate Sergio Perez, who is currently second.
