Published on 09 October 2024 by Stefan Meens

This week, Jos Verstappen and co-driver Renaud Jamoul are contesting the 24th edition of the Tour de Corse Historique. The duo entered the rally with a 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RS. Although the car is 50 years old, it packs a punch weighing only 930kg and its rear wheels driven by a 330 BHP flat six-cylinder engine.

After day two of the five day event, Jos and Renaud remain in third place in the H1 category. “I’m happy. Despite it being challenging, it went well”, said Jos, who’s car sports the number 33. “It’s bumpy and the car bounced like crazy, but it was amazing. We were mainly in second and third gear because it’s so twisty. This is pretty special.”

After a couple of shorter stages on Tuesday, Conca - Favone (8.1km) and Kamiesch - Col de Bavella (18.8km), Wednesday featured three longer stages: Ventiseri - Serra di Fiumorbo (27,1km), Tallone - Pietra di Verde (41,9km) en Casalta - Prunelli di Casacconi (26,0km). With two fourth and one third place, Jos and Renaud sit in third place in the H1 standings and in ninth overall, trailing rally leader Julien Saunier by almost four and a half minutes.

Thursday sees four stages scheduled with the event coming to an end after seventeen time stages on Saturday.
