Thierry ready for his DTM debut at Oschersleben: 'Very exciting'

Published on 25 May 2023 by Niels Hendrix

This weekend, Verstappen.com Racing driver Thierry Vermeulen will make his debut in DTM. He will race the Ferrari 296 GT3 run by Emil Frey Racing at Oschersleben, in Germany.

The 20-year-old Dutchman says: “We have all been looking forward to this first weekend in DTM. We of course had a first run in the GT World Challenge, but this is the first time I will be alone in the car and the first time in two years I am doing a championship as an only driver in my car, so this is very exciting.”

Although Thierry is familiar with the Oschersleben track, when he raced there last year in the GT Masters, he is expecting a challenging weekend: “It will be a tricky race with a very competitive DTM field. I am happy to be back here this time with Emil Frey in the Ferrari 296 GT3. I am getting to know the car better and better and I am loving it, so I am hoping to be competitive. We have Thursday practice and then the official program starts on Friday so plenty of running time. Two races to show what we’ve got.”

Viaplay will be live broadcasting both qualifying sessions and both races of the Oschersleben DTM weekend: Saturday 27 May at 9.40 and 13.10, and Sunday 28 May at 9.30 and 13.15.
