The warm up took place in a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and no threat of rain. Jos set a good 11th time, in front of Villeneuve and Montoya, Enrique Bernoldi was 15th. Fastest was David Coulthard followed by R. Schumacher and Hakkinen. On position 4 Nick Heidfeld could be found, keeping both Ferraris behind him.
