Again disappointment

Published on 13 April 2001 by Verstappen Info Page

Again the OrangeArrows team is unfortunate in the second free practice. All other drivers -except Montoya because he had also problems- were able to set faster times in the first hour, at that time Jos and Enrique were finished for the day.
It started very hopefull for Jos, after he drove some good laps on a almost dry circuit. He clocked an 11th time but after 7 laps the fun was over. At the end of the pits the A22 stalled. Quickly the car was pushed back to the pitbox but Jos could take off his overall. Again problems with the fuel pump. Not long after that Enrique had to stop but he was able to drive over 40 laps.

A lot has to be done tomorrow...

At the front the usual cars, Ferrari on 1 and 2 and nothing seems to stop them. Behind them a lot is happening, not only Ralf Schumacher is up front with his Williams but both BAR drivers are able to set good times. Behind them the Jordan and McLaren is dropping rapidly, Hakkinen is fifth and Coulthard eleventh. This is not good but at least we have some excitement behind Ferrari.

A positive feeling about the suspension

Luckily Jos and his manager Raymond Vermeulen do not forget the fans back home and we spoke with them short after the second practice. Jos: "This is no fun. All in all I was able to drive 3 fast laps. I was able to give the new suspension a try and it feels good. Let us hope that we can book progress on a dry track". We will cross our fingers for him.
