Unlucky Jos in first practice

An new front suspension and a wet circuit. The signs were good for Arrows and Jos right after the start of the first free practice in Imola. Unfortunately before the first minute went Jos parked his car at the side of the track with a technical defect. Although no official statement was given by Arrows it appears to be the fuel pressure. In the practice it is not allowed to use the T-car, so Jos had to sit and with until the second free practice in the afternoon before he could drive a lap. A short action resulted in a short reaction from Jos in Italy: "I hoped it went well with the new suspension but this is very disappointing".

The rest of the drivers were able to set lap times. The end result showed that Rubens Barrichello was fastest followed by M. Schumacher. Behind the Ferraris the 2 McLarens claimed third and fourth, followed by both Jordan drivers. Enrique Bernoldi clocked a good 11th time.
