Rain in Spain, Jost tests in England

Published on 01 May 2001 by Huub Rothengatter

The five teams who stayed in Spain to test; McLaren, Benetton, Williams, Jaguar and Prost wished they went somewhere else. The first day in Valencia they had thunder and lightning storms, heavy rain, hail and snow.
The teams focused on improving the traction control in the time that was left. Alexander Wurz was fastest, followed by team mate Hakkinen and Benetton test driver Mark Webber.
Jos and the Arrows team, who started a three day test in Silverstone, the weather was much better. Despite the forecast it did not rain. Jos and Enrique drove a grand total of 133 laps. Enrique was focused on the setup of the car and the standard tyre test of Bridgestone. Jos was also working on the setup, during the first morning run he had some minor problems but after that he was able to drive long runs to test the reliability of the car.
This afternoon Jos's engineer Greg Wheeler arrived. Together they will focus their work on the setup and testing some new aerondynamic parts.

Jos was quite satisfied about today, everything went as planned. Tomorrow and the day after the test will continue.
