Warmup: Coulthard first, Jos 8th

Again David Coulthard was fastest of all in Monaco followed by Mika Hakkinen and the two Ferraris. Frentzen and Ralf Schumacher completed the top 6. The weather is superb in Monaco, no cloud to be seen and already 24°C.

Jos was within the top ten during the session, dropped down and came back into the top ten. Jos drove the most laps of all, 17. In the end he came 8th, just behind Irvine. Enrique drove 11 laps and got stuck on a 20th position.
After the session test starts were practiced on the grid, as was agreed with Whiting of the FIA. This was to prevent any dangerous situations like they happened in Austria two weeks ago.
