On a sunny Hungaroring both Ferraris were top notch today. Michael was fastest in a 1.16.995, Jos finished his fist session on a 13th position with the new front wing in a time of 1.20.706
Jos made four runs this morning and only his last run he was unable to improve his time due to a red and a yellow flag situation. David Coulthard caused the red flag, he hit the curbstones too hard and ripped the bottom of his car to pieces. which caused pieces of the gearbox to end up on the tarmac. The yellow flag was caused by Tarso Marques who spun for the third time that hour.
Extra attention was there for Jean Alesi and Heinz-Harald Frentzen who swapped seats. Alesi did make himself popular with his new boss when he
ended up in a gravel pit after 15 minutes. Frentzen seemed to be using the first session to get to know the Prost a bit better. He ended on 18 position with 16 laps to his record.
