Frentzen; his chances with Prost, Minardi and Arrows

Published on 16 November 2001 by Thorsten Hendriks

Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who finished this years' season in a Prost Grand Prix car still has not found a seat for next year. According to his manager they are having talks, one of the teams is Arrows. The German driver himself still has not made a decision yet. Minardi and Prost would like to use his services next year, but another year with Prost could prove to be a risky choice. In the OrangeArrows team there is not a lot of choice; Jos Verstappen has already been confirmed a while ago for next year and his team mate Enrique Bernoldi still is a serious contender for the second seat. Frentzen's manager commented "We have visited Arrows, they showed interest in us at an earlier stage, but I don't think they will replace any of their drivers next season."

Besides Prost GP, who are in serious financial problems the most realistic option for Frentzen is Minardi. They still have one seat available next to Alex Yoong, because Fernando Alonso will be Renault's test driver. Frentzen would be very welcome in Paul Stoddart's team, the team owner said recently he would like to have a more experienced driver.
