Schumacher has pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hill starts second and Villeneuve third. Then there is a gap of almost 1,5 seconds to Irvine who starts 4th and Alesi and Berger as 5th and 6th. Jos had problems with the set up of his car this afternoon. He made three runs. After the first run where he did 1:21.268 major changes were made to the back suspension of the car. In the second run he set 1:20.889 and after that the front of the car was changed. In his third run he set his final time of 1:20.781 which set him on a 17th starting position for tomorrow. See Hungarian Grand Prix results for the complete results.

Jos declared afterwards: "I am very very disappointed because whatever we did, we couldn't get rid of the understeer. However I drove, or whatever we tried or changed, we couldn't lose the massive understeer in slow corners - although it wasn't too bad in fast corners."

"This morning I went off because we had a linkage problem with the throttle, so as I went into the corner, the throttle was still 40 percent open, which pushed me off into the gravel, although fortunately I was able to get back onto the track again."

Tom Walkinshaw: "The chronic understeer of the car is preventing the drivers from achieving a good time, and short of redesigning the front end, there's nothing we can do."
