Schumacher set the fastest lap time in ...

Published on 10 August 1996 by Verstappen Info Page

Schumacher set the fastest lap time in the Saturday morning free practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Villeneuve set the second time and Hill was third. The gap between Schumacher and Hill is only 4/100 of a second though so it is all very close at the top. Herbert was surprisingly fourth in his Sauber with a renewed Ford engine. Jos did OK in the first part of the first session, having been sixth for a while but later in the first morning session he dropped back to a fifteenth position. In the second morning session Jos wasn't able to set a better time. After sliding off the track (and on again) because his throttle stuck he went into the pit and set the 17th time.
