Arrived in Melbourne

Published on 02 March 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

Melbourne, 2.30am local time. Jos Verstappen and Raymond Vermeulen are in their hotel room and decided to phone 'home' and tell us they arrived safe and well. Over here it was 3.30pm and the 2 globetrotters' feeling for time was still a bit mixed up due to the long flight. Both suffering from jetlag, even Raymond admitted it and he should be used to it by now. "We will be going to bed soon" Raymond said "that is the only way to get used to the local times here".

Yesterday noon they left from Schiphol and via stops in Kuala Lumpur and Sydney they arrived in Melbourne at midnight. Adding the trip from home to Amsterdam and the one in Melbourne from airport to hotel they have been travelling for approximately 30 hours. That last trip did not go smoothly. Jos: "That's Raymond's fault", Raymond commented: "Put Jos in a car outside the circuit and he will get lost." At least they still had their sense of humour.

Now they will try to get rid of the jetlag and start preparations for the first Grand Prix of 2003. To be continued...
