Small break for Jos in Thailand

Published on 13 March 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

Looking back on a successful comeback, Jos is enjoying a small break in Phuket, Thailand. Sunday night Jos and Raymond took a plane to Kuala Lumpur where they met up with their families on Monday morning. On Monday afternoon they all flew to Thailand. They will be staying there until Monday, then they will fly back to Kuala Lumpur to get ready for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Both their wives and children will be present at the circuit during the Grand Prix.

Talking to us from the poolside Jos concludes that the race in Melbourne was positive: "I am glad that I finished. Our aim was to finish and I met my target. This is very positive for the team." Jos bringing home the Minardi PS03 has given them a lot of data about the car which will influence the results for the next races. Although Jos thinks we should not expect too much. "The race has given us insight in the fuel consumption and a basis for the further setup of the car." What about the tyres? "I can't say a lot about them. Maybe this tyre is a good choice in Kuala Lumpur, but in Australia every team had problems with their tyres. Albert Park is normally public road, it is dirty and dusty. A tyre that might not be suitable for Australia might be the perfect choice for the Malaysian Grand Prix."

Jos, Raymond and their familires are enjoying themselves in Thailand. "Excellent hotel on the seafront with swimming pool and fine weather" Raymond Vermeulen tells us. "Oh, you know; keeping the kids busy, swimming, playing football and relaxing." What about some photographs? Annoyingly Raymond replied: "I haven't been able to establish a decent internet connection yet, but I won't give up."

So hopefully he will send us some photographs from Thailand. To be continued...
