Although he was not able to drive more than 3 laps but that was due to the weather and a red flag situation.

This morning's test session went without any problems for the Minardi F1 team. Jos had a lap time of 1.16.322 staying in front of Jordan's Ralph Firman and his team mate Justin Wilson.

During first free practice of this morning on a wet track and rainy conditions Pizzonia caused a red flag situation in his Jaguar by crashing. Jos had only driven 3 laps. When the session was restarted it was still raining and a few drivers tried to improve their times but their efforts were unsuccessful. In the end only 16 drivers used the free practice to set a time. Jos set a time of 1.37.226.
