The new forum flag

Published on 17 April 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

The new forum flag is finished!

Earlier today the flag flew to Imola joined by the person who organised it all, Panic. They will be present at the Grand Prix of San Marino. He hopes to find a nice spot on the start/finish line, good place to put up this magnificent flag.

The history of the flag is known; well the history of its predecessor which was stolen at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The flag was gone. Our forum was in all states. Our chief editor John ter Meer followed the discussion from the background and thought he had to do something. During the day he is publisher of advertising magazine SignPro. He contacted one of his business relations, Dereumaux XL Prints in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. One of the directors, Marc Shoenmakers, spontaneously offered to reprint the flag free of charge. Dereumaux XL Prints has a good reputation in printing of mega posters, mostly advertising. They have a very large and very expensive big print printing machine. One of these printers, which is five metres wide, was set up to print the new flag. Then the flag was finished of with some loops for fastening, etc. Excellent work from Dereumaux XL Prints.

There it is then, the new forum flag, 2 metres high and 6 metres wide. Panic, the guy who took the initiative for the flag, was very impressed: "In one word; perfect! On behalf of all forum members I would like to thank John ter Meer and Messrs Schoenmakers of Dereumaux for their spontaneous co-operation and their fast service. Thanks to them the flag will be present at the circuit of Imola. Now I have to go and catch my plane."

Jos Verstappen will sign the flag this Friday, that agreement has been made.
