Ferrari fast in rain, Minardi are doing a good job

The first qualification session for the Canadian Grand Prix has just finished in the rain. In these conditions the difference between the men and the boys is obvious. The Ferrari's did what was expected of them; one and two where Barrichello was a full second faster than Schumacher. The German had a little moment during his flying lap.

Jos set a good time in the rain

There are more drivers who have to live up to their reputation in the rain. Jos had a good time in the rain and put his Minardi on an impressing 11th place. Even Justin Wilson showed he is capable of driving in the rain, he put himself on 13th place. The capabilities (and shortcomings!) of individual drivers show in these wet conditions. Ferrari is still top of the leaderboard but Minardi makes a big jump forward.

Jos was happy with his flying lap; "I had a good lap. You see when the differences between the cars don't count as much, like today in the rain, we are not bottom of the list. It rained during the whole of the qualification, so everyone had similar circumstances. This morning during the test session it was dry, we worked on the setup of the car. During the free practice it started raining so we had to change the whole setup."

"This is a little success for the team" according to Jos who realises that it was only the weather that changed the grid. Tomorrow, maybe in dry conditions it will all be different. Jos is hoping for rain: "Yesterday I said it should be a sunny weekend but the forecast now is changeable. I am hoping for rain, that will mean Minardi will have a sunny weekend!"
