First free practice: Bridgstone rules

Published on 14 June 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

On a wet circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal the free practices took place this morning. Just like in the pre-qualification session it is clear that the wet Michelins are not as good as the full profile Bridgestones. Only Fernando Alonso managed to get into the top 10.

During the whole session there were plenty of spins. Frentzen had to better it all and crashed at the end of the straight leaving the Sauber with a heavily damaged nose. As the session progressed a more or less dry line appeared, this caused the lap times to dive under those of yesterday.

Jos only drove 14 laps, he was not able to set a better time than 1.31.690, which put him on 20th place.
