Morning session has finished

This morning Jos had some good runs without any problems worth mentioning. The Minardi PS03 has done 20 laps, the fastest was 1.26.1. Both Arrows chassis, for the occasion renamed to PS04 had done 12 laps with a fastest time of 1.26.7.

Can we assume that the PS03 is the better car? Not according to Jos: "The cars are completely diffent, you cannot compare them to our current PS03. It has been built by different designers with a different view on things and today is the first time we can test these cars. You have to start from scratch, some sort of first rollout which you normally perform in spring and you still have to look for setting which make the car go faster. I'm quite positive about the PS04, it has a lot of potential. We are performing a real test, with a lot of fuel in the cars. Maybe we will give the cars a try in qualification trim this afternoon. Let's wait and see."

All in all a very serious test for Minardi which could form an important basis for next year. From 2pm Jos will be accompanied by Kiesa in an effort to drive as many laps as possible to gather plenty of data to work with.
