Jos happy with side-by-side test

Published on 16 September 2003 by Huub Rothengatter

Jos has finished the side-by-side test between the PS03 and PS04 to the team's satisfation. After a full day of testing the PS03 was still the fastest in various setups but Jos believes there is more potential in the PS04. "I think we can speak of a fair test, I've driven 27 laps in various cars where we didn't encounter any technical difficulties. It has to be said that the Arrows still has a lot of tweaking possibilities for which we didn't have time today. It would have been better if we would have had another day."

The fastest lap was one by Jos, 1.25.439. The PS04 was only a fraction slower, 1.25.622. A difference hardly worth mentioning. "I have to say that the Arrows cars are not that bad. They suit my style. Looking back I only needed half a day to get used to the car, I felt at ease after that and was able to look for its limits. I believe the Arrows is faster, again there are plenty of possibilities to try, but the day was to short. I am sure we haven't reached the maximum limit of the car. We know the ins and outs of the PS03 and we are able to get a good setup in no time. I won't try to guess the lap time difference, it is a good car with plenty of potential. Yes, I am quite happy with today's test."

Kiesa was faster in the Arrows at the end of the day. His lap times were about 3 seconds slower though. In the PS03 his fastest lap time was 1.28.455, in the PS04 1.28.148.
