Kimi Raikkonen on pole - Jos 19th

Kimi Raikkonen has improved his chances to become World Champion. Against all odds 'the iceman' was fastest, only the second in his career. Another advantage is that Montoya and Schumacher couldn't get any further up the grid than 4th and 7th respectively.

How far their positions are part of a possilbe race startegy nobody knows. Barrichello will start from position 2 and Olivier Panis put his Toyota on 3.

Jos Verstappen's qualifying session went as we have seen before. More than a place at the back of the grid is not achievable. Today mainly the changing track conditions were key factor. "The track has changed a lot since yesterday. We had a lot of rain, so there isn't much rubber on the track. Also the higher temperature made that we were slower than this morning. All Bridgestone cars had this problem." It seemed that the Minardi didn't feel at home on a dry Indianpolis, wet would have been better. "A lot of oversteer, especially in the middle sector. The car was sliding away when I steered into a corner. Tomorrow could be different though."
