Jos Verstappen and Trust International

Published on 14 April 2004 by Huub Rothengatter

Jos Verstappen and Michel Perridon have buried the hatchet and after an excellent meeting have decided to look forward into a future in Formula 1 together. Yesterday Jos Verstappen and Raymond Vermeulen had a lengthy chat with Michel Perridon at Trust Headquarters in Dordrecht.

"Just before the season we acted emotionally instead of rationally and we both have said and done things concerning the failed Jordan deal. We both regret how the matter was dealt with", Jos clarifies the successful reconciliation attempt. "The contacts were still alive, but it was time to sit down and have a chat like real men. Both Michel and myself have told each other what was bothering us. What? It's no use going over the past again. We are looking forward to the future, I am glad we share the same vision."

What does that mean? Jos: "Michel has offered to support me as and when a chance for a return to Formula 1 is possible. He has a budget available as sponsor. Har Muermans of Muermans Realty Group has reservered an amount for sponsoring as well, just like before. My return last year with Minardi was mainly due to their efforts and support. Raymond Vermeulen and Huub Rothengatter will take stock where the possible opportunities will be in the near future."

Is an early return possible? "It is still early days in the season", Raymond Vermeulen comments. "We have to create Jos' chances ourselves. We have always maintained contact with the teams, even over the past couple of months. Again, we are not suggesting anything. The most important thing is that Jos Verstappen will be supported by Trust as soon as a serious opportunity arises to get a seat in Formula 1."
