Jordan F1 test for Jos Verstappen

Published on 05 May 2004 by Huub Rothengatter

Jos Verstappen is at Jordan F1's factory to fit a seat today in preparation of the one day test which he will perform on 1 June. Raymond accompanied Jos.

We should not jump to conclusions with this, temporary, return of Jos Verstappen to Formula 1, according to Raymond Vermeulen. "This is a result of the meeting between Michel Perridon, Eddie Jordan, Ian Philips and myself. It is good to see Jos make some miles in an F1 car again. Let's see how the test goes and then in June we will see what happens."

Jos himself is very happy to be able to enjoy the F1 action. "I'm not sure what to expect from this test, we will see in June. I should be testing the whole day. Fitting a seat was very important, although it was quiet in the factory because the mechanics have already left for Barcelona. I'm glad to be able to drive a F1 car. I have met Eddie Jordan today, this was the first time since the deal failed earlier this year. All contact went through Raymond Vermeulen. I was curious how the people at Jordan would react and we had a good chat." One thing Jos can't give an opinion about is the Jordan F1 car: "I would not be able to judge its performance, I have not driven that car this season. Maybe after the test I will be able to tell you a bit more. I am glad to be able to drive a Formula 1 car and that is very important."

Something that has been confirmed by Eddie Jordan. "It's fantastic to give Jos exposure in Formula 1. I am happy for our loyal sponsor Trust. As far as I am concerned Jos still can have a great future in Formula 1. I hope this test will have a positive result for his future career.

Trust shows its loyalty by appearing on Jos' overall

Jos will be the only driver during the test on 1 June, no other Jordan drivers will be present.
