Jeroen Bleekemolen has joined the A1 Team Netherlands as spare driver. The team has the intention of letting him test the car several times, so he can get used to driving a fast formula car again.
He has, despite his young age, earned his racing stripes in various national and intenational race classes. He has driven in the FIA GT Championship with the Dodge Viper, the German Formula 3 and several times in the Masters of Formula 3. With Opel he drove a magnificent season in the DTM and at the moment he rules the Benelux Racing League.
Jeroen: "It is a unique opportunity to join this team and racing class. I could not wish for a better teacher dan Jos Verstappen. This will give me a broader future prospective in addition to my touring car activities."
Jan Lammers: "Jeroen has developed himself as an allround driver over the past few years. He did very wel in the DTM compared to the likes of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Jean Alesi and Christijan Albers. He is a fresh, talented driver who deserves this chance in a remarkable Formula car racing class."
Allard Kalff, manager of Jeroen Bleekemolen: "I know quite a few people in the A1 GP organisation who gave me the impression that this class has future. I am very glad that Jeroen's progress has been noticed. I will have to start thinking what this might mean for his future career. We are very proud to be working with Verstappen and Lammers."
