Verstappen back in race spirit

Published on 24 September 2005 by Thorsten Hendriks

The spark in his eyes has returned. His killerinstinct has surfaced again, his race spirit is back.

That is one of the headlines in the Dutch newspapers. Jos proved during the first free practice that he cannot to be ignored. It was his first outing on the Brands Hatch circuit and after 3 laps he clocked a second fastest time. Unfortunately he suffered from mechanical failure (rear wheel suspension) which meant he was not able to maintain this position and ended up ninth.

This failure during the first free fractice was due to an incident with the Indian driver Chandhok. Just before Druids Chandhok moved out of the way for the Australian car but didn't see the bright orange car of Jos right behind it. As soon as Jos steered into the corner Chandhok came in as well and they collided. As a matter of fact he ended up on top of Jos his car. Quite spectacular to see, but not very useful for Jos.
