No second car for the teams (yet)

Published on 04 November 2005 by Thorsten Hendriks

The teams are still not allowed to use their second car in Australia. Most of the teams do have a second car, but not all of them. To avoid giving some teams an advantage it is decided that the second car can be present, but only for spare parts. The racing car will be checked for its chassisnumber by officials.

Even in Sepang, Malaysia the cars won't be available, according to A1GP manager John Wickham. It is expected that the cars will be available to all teams for the race in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The teams will take more risk as soon as they have a spare car available, especially during the sprint race.

This is not good news for this series. To be able to call yourself a fully fledged championship for countries it is very important that cars and drivers can be exchanged. As long as there is only one car the importance of the driver of this car is getter bigger than A1GP had planned.
