Plenty of sand in Dubai

Published on 10 December 2005 by Thorsten Hendriks

Jos arrived in Dubai yesterday, where the sixth A1GP will take place this weekend. Tomorrow the mechanics will work on the car and Jos will have to do some check the circuit. "I don't know this circuit" he says; and that goes for most of the drivers. "There is lots of sand on the track though, but everyone has the same problems so I am not worried."

Between the Sepand and Dubai Grand Prix the teams had three weeks 'rest'. No time for lointering about though, Jos is keeping himself fit. "Only the first week after Sepang I had the flu, I haven't done much in that week. But after that I have been very active to keep myself fit. Karting, with Max, and some mini bike races." As long as there is speed involved Jos is quite happy to participate.

Speed was a key issue today, at least when Jos was watching a power boats demonstration. " No these are not speedboats, we are watching fast boats which can achieve a speed of 250 KPH on water. Very impressive to see. Today it has been a quiet day, tomorrow we are alloowed to work on the car again. Tomorrow evening we have a dinner with Sheikh Maktoum. All drivers will be present. He has organised this because we are guest in his home country. Friday it all starts, everyone is geared up for an excellent race weekend!"
