CRG works team started with good motivation and more importantly with good results the first racing day at the International Circuit of Abruzzo in Ortona (Chieti, Italy) where the second and last round of the KF and KF Junior European CIK-FIA Championship is underway.
The renewed track of Abruzzo, now 1.580 meters long without the two downhill chicanes and the hairpin similar to the motorbike-like corkscrew that used to identify this circuit and that has often been a pitfall for drivers, smiled to CRG colors that shone since the beginning with Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver, third in the championship standings and in the hunt for his fourth title of the season, secured in fact the win in the first heat run in KF.
In practice Max Verstappen set the fifth absolute time on CRG/TM, being just two tenths shy of Nielsen, Convers, Basz and Ilott, but in the first heat of the weekend the music changed.
"The beginning of practice has been a bit difficult – commented Max Verstappen – but then we found the hang of it testing several solutions on the chassis and in qualifying things went much better. We worked again before the first heat and we proved to be in the fight for the top positions. I am quite happy."
