No further news on Jos' new team. Some other news then:
The World Motor Sport Council has decided on new rules. Among others: Every car gets an accident data recorder (black box); nine sets of slicks of two specifications may be used instead of seven sets of a singel specification.
Ralf Schumacher (Jos' new teammate?) has won the Formula Nippon (Formula 3000) title in Japan. He is the first rookie to win the title and the youngest champion.
For BBC radio Nigel Mansell has said: "My focus at the moment is on golf but motor racing still very much burns in my heart...my time is not up." Nigel, world champion in 1992, told he might reconsider F1 if the right offer came along.
Alessandro Nannini, who will test a Benetton-Renault next month, said it was highly unlikely he would ever make a comeback to Formula One racing. He doesn't think his body can physically manage a full F1 race after he almost lost his arm in 1990. He also denies rumours that Briatore would want to hire him as test driver.
Dome, the Japanese F3000-team with plans to enter F1 in 1997, has officially announced that won't be entering F1 before 1998.
Rumour has it that Satoru Nakajima, who already runs F3, Formula Nippon (F3000) and Sports cars wants to run his own F1 team. He is suspected to be talking to Tyrrell, for which he drove F1, and might buy a share of it. From this Tyrrell could benefit with cash and engines from Honda (not Mugen Honda).
