Heavy downpour floods the Sakhir karting track

Published on 21 November 2013 by Niels Hendrix

Bahrain is better known for its extreme heat than for its rainfall. However, when it rains, it is best described as a torrential downpour. The last few days, the Viva Karting Track in Sakhir was hit by heavy rain several times, but on Thursday it reached its peak, resulting in a flooded circuit. It appeared the schedule for the second and final round of the CIK-FIA World Championship KF would be severely disrupted, had it not been for the efforts by the organisation.

As you can see from the pictures below, man and machine, with the help of the sun and a pleasant 25 degrees Celsius, managed to clear the circuit. This meant the teams were able to send out their drivers according to schedule.
