Several options for Max in 2014

Published on 07 February 2014 by Stefan Meens

After two of four Florida Winter Series events, the philosophy of the series and the Ferrari Driver Academy seeps through as the drivers learn about all aspects of professional motor racing.

On top of that they get plenty of track time to showcase their talent as the series lines up twelve races in a month (three per event). Therefore the Florida Winter Series is the perfect preparation for the approaching European motorsport season, starting around April.

As the spring closes in it will become clear in what category and for which team Max will display his talent. Currently, there are three options for Max. The first is the Formula Renault 2.0 championship, contested over seven weekends with two races per round. So far Max has had several successful FR 2.0 test sessions with various teams.

The second and third options are both a year in Formula 3. The first of the F3 options would be a season in the German Formula 3 Championship. After a successful Formula 3 test with Team Motopark in Valencia, this option to compete in the German championship is seriously considered. The season consists of seven or eight (to be confirmed) rounds with every weekend lining up three races.
The second F3 option would be to compete in the European Formula 3 championship. This series spans eleven rounds with three races per event.

Ultimately, the decision will depend on which series provides the best learning trajectory for a young driver and single seater rookie like Max. At his age he has got plenty of time to develop as a driver and to hone his race craft. Making mistakes and learning from them is a crucial part of this maturing process.
