Back injury keeps Ed Jones side-lined for three rounds

Ed Jones will miss the next three rounds of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship as he continues to recovery from an injury he sustained during the Pau Grand Prix earlier this month.
The 2013 European F3 Open Champion stepped up to the senior F3 series this year with Carlin and achieved two podium finishes during the second round at Hockenheim.
Jones suffered a heavy crash during the first qualifying session at Pau, where he struck a kerb and hit the barriers. The 18-year-old was able to extricate himself from the car and continued as normal through the weekend - with a best finish of eighth from three races - before discovering he had suffered a fractured vertebra as a result of his qualifying crash. As a result, Jones is not expected to be racing again until the Moscow round in July.
"I am very disappointed to be missing the upcoming rounds," Jones said, "but it is obviously for the best that I look after myself after such a heavy crash. I am however feeling confident about the future and while it's a shame to miss these three rounds, I am very much looking forward to replicating our early season results when I can resume the championship in Moscow."
