Max puts in promising lap times during Spa free practice

Published on 20 June 2014 by Stefan Meens

Max Verstappen made a fine start to the fifth weekend of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at Spa-Francorchamps. In the first free practice session, the Dutchman set a third fastest time before storming to the top spot in free practice 2.

After ending the first practice session on P3, four tenths behind fastest man Rosenqvist, Max and Van Amersfoort Racing change the wing set-up ahead of the second session. As FP2 gets underway, the 16-year-old youngster is among the front-runners from the start. Despite some raindrops at the back of the track near the end of the session, Max claims the fastest lap. His impressive 2:10.232 leaves runner-up Ocon trailing by seven tenths.

Max: “This morning things went pretty well. We were still trying to find out the best set-up in first free practice but after some minor adjustment free practice 2 went really well. We’ll see how the rest of weekend goes as you never know what the weather brings here at Spa-Francorchamps.”
