Published on 02 July 2014 by Stefan Meens

The FIA Formula 3 Middle East Cup, announced by the FIA at its World Motor Sport Council, will take place in January 2015. The Bahrain Grand Prix circuit will host the event.

On the structure and set-up of the cup, no details have yet been announced. However it is suggested that one or two race meetings are held at the Sakhir track, with a testing programme around them.

The WMSC has also confirmed that the life of the current chassis, which was initially from 2012-2015, will be extended by a further two seasons until the end of 2017.

Furthermore 'changes to the FIA F3 technical regulations have been made to reduce running and development costs'.
