On August 31, Max Verstappen will drive a Formula 1 car for the first time. In a two-year-old Scuderia Toro Rosso racer, the youngest ever F1 rookie will take to the streets of Rotterdam during the VKV City Racing event.
However, it is likely that Max will have more opportunities this year to get valuable F1 mileage under his belt. Max’ manager Raymond Vermeulen explains: “Together with Franz Tost, we’ve discussed how we can optimize Max’ preparation for his debut season in Formula 1. Initially, he will test a lot with a Formula Renault 3.5-racer. Furthermore, he’ll drive a two-year-old Toro Rosso.”
Additionally, there is a possibility of Verstappen junior participating in Friday practice. “All possible scenarios are being considered, including having Max drive several Friday free practice sessions. However nothing has yet been finialized and as Max’ preparation moves on, we’ll decicde, together with Scuderia Toro Rosso, what the plan is.”
