In preparation for his Grand Prix debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso, Max Verstappen travelled to Faenza to visit the Italian Formula 1 team’s headquarters. The newest member of the Red Bull Junior Team was given a factory tour and was introduced to the people working on his future car. Last but not least, a new racing seat was made for Verstappen junior.
“Today I had a chance to meet several team members and I did a tour of the factory and facilities. But the most time consuming task of the day was the seat fitting”, explains Max. “However, it’s important to take enough time for moulding the seat because you want it to be as comfortable as possible.”
Max’ first impressions of his new team are positive. “I’d seen some photos of the factory so I knew what to expect. However, in reality it looks even more awesome. The scale of the operation is so much bigger than F3. Here at Toro Rosso, there is a workforce of 400 people, that’s quite a difference from Formula 3.”
On Wednesday, the 16-year-old Dutchman returns to the factory. “We’ll perfect my new racing seat by padding it. After that we’ll discuss the plans for the next few weeks”, concludes Max.
