Max explores the Circuit of the Americas

Published on 29 October 2014 by Stefan Meens

To prepare for his second Formula 1 Friday free practice session, Max Verstappen completed a track walk on the Circuit of the Americas on Wednesday. On his reconnaissance of the Austin based track, the Red Bull Junior was accompanied by his Scuderia Toro Rosso race engineer Xevi Pujolar and performance engineer Olivier Helvig.

“We started the day with a meeting in which we discussed my free practice run at Suzuka. Following on from my feedback, we've got something to work with, here in Austin”, explains Max. “I also spend some time in the car, not driving, but to change a few things regarding my position in the car. After that, we did a track walk to get to know the circuit.”

Upcoming Friday at 3pm BST, Max will participate in the 90 minute free practice session. The aim of the outing is the same as FP1 at Suzuka, Japan. “The main thing for me is to get in as many laps as possible. The goal is to get used to this F1 car in preparation for next year. It means I won't be driving to the limit as track time is vital.”
