Max Verstappen finished a busy week in style by picking up the 'FIA Action of the Year Award 2014'. At the annual FIA Prize-Giving Ceremony in Doha, Qatar, the Dutchman was presented a trophy, after his manoeuvre on Antonio Giovinazzi at race 2 of the Euro F3 at Imola, won him the honor. The winning overtake was decided by motor sport fans world wide, who had the option to vote, over the last few weeks.
The trip to Doha was the perfect way to unwind after a busy period following on from Max' outing at the Abu Dhabi F1 test, in which he drove both days for Scuderia Toro Rosso. The following weekend, the Dutchman met his Red Bull assigned personal trainer, who will accompany him throughout the 2015 season. Their first encounter immediately set the tone for things to come, as the pair hit the gym as part of Max' winter training program.
On Monday, Max continued racking up the Air Miles by flying across to Geneva for medical tests to measure his fitness. Later on the day, Max flew to Munich, from where he, driven by his new Toro Rosso team mate, FR 3.5L champion Carlos Sainz, travelled to Salzburg. There, the youngest driver line up in F1, made an appearance on a sports show on Servus TV, the same on which Max was announced as an STR driver.
The pair drove back to Munich the same evening, Sainz once again covering as the taxi driver. Early Tuesday morning, Max boarded a plane, destination Italy. To be more precise: Faenza, home of the Toro Rosso team. There, Max, together with his engineers, prepared a program for Wednesday's scheduled test in an STR7 at Imola. Unfortunately, the rain obstructed the running and after only a handful of laps, Max flew back to Milton Keynes in England. On Thursday, at Red Bull's headquarter, he spend and intense workday with his engineers in the simulator, clocking plenty of laps.
Nevertheless, there was no time to relax just yet. On Thursday evening Max joined his manager Raymond Vermeulen at Heathrow Airport, ready for their trip to Doha. There, Max had the opportunity to unwind and relax at the FIA Prize-Giving Ceremony before being awarded the 'FIA Action of the Year Award 2014'.
Anyone who thinks Max will take it easy from now on, do not be fooled, he is probably on his way to another airport as the Autosport Awards in England on Sunday await the 17-year-old globetrotter.
