Max looking forward to racing in China

Published on 07 April 2015 by Stefan Meens

Upcoming weekend, Max Verstappen will contest the third Grand Prix of the 2015 season. It will be the first time the Dutch youngster will take to the Shanghai International Circuit, the venue that hosts the Chinese round of the Formula 1 World Championship since 2004.

“I’ve been to China a few times already, although I have never been to Shanghai or the circuit there. The track looks nice, especially the long right hander first corner, it seems pretty cool. Scuderia Toro Rosso expects circumstances similar to the pre-season tests in Spain during which the front tyres took a firm beating."

As Max said, it is not his first time racing in China. Last year, the youngster competed in the Macau Grand Prix, the annual Formula 3 blue ribbon event. Max mounted a courageous comeback after he fought his way to seventh, following a crash in the first lap which dented his chances for the win as well as his suspension.

The spectacular race on streets of Macau was Max’ last race in F3 before switching to Formula 1. The Shanghai International Circuit will therefore pose a new challenge for the youngest ever points scorer in F1. “It’s always exciting to go to a new circuit, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend and meeting some new Chinese fans.”
