Max aiming for points in Spain

Scuderia Toro Rosso has updated the STR10 with some aerodynamic improvements, but there is more coming, as Max Verstappen relays after his usual track walk on Thursday in Barcelona: “The most important updates, to really improve the car, can be expected around the Austrian GP. The small changes the team has now done, are only good enough for some tenths, but we’ll need to wait and see. I am confident we have a good car.”
The 17-year old driver sees some chances in Spain: as for race pace, the Toro Rosso’s can keep their own. “I don't see why we cannot fight for points. Seventh or eighth seems to be a realistic target, I still remain optimistic. If all goes well, that is certainly achieveable.”
The modified driving unit that Renault has brought along, should assist Max going forward. “Renault needs to. Hopefully, the great results from the wind tunnel, will also be seen on track. But the reliability of the engine is the most important thing. When that is okay, we are definitely in for points. The competition hasn’t been idling also, so it won’t be an easy feat.”
The fact that Max, for the first time since his debut in the pinnacle of motorsports, will be driving on a track on which he has been on before in a Formula 1-car, is to his advantage, he explains: “Because I need less time to get to know the track and finding brake points, I have more time and laps to focus on the setup and other things. That’s a plus.”
