Here it is: The new Tyrrell 025.

The car was presented today in London at the sounds of the Carmina Burana of Carl Orff. The new Tyrrell has almost completely been designed by computer, something the team has been done since 1989. According to the designer of the car, dr. Harvey Postlethwaite, the car is a logical development of the previous model.
Striking detail on the new car is the single support device of the front wing which is in contrast to other F1 designs. To prove the strength of this wing support, two man were standing on the wing, without any consequense of course.
The Ford Cosworth V8 which will be in the back of the car this year, currently has already gained 8% power on last year's example, according to the Ford engineers. Ford's objective is to find a power gain of 15% this season.
Despite other rumours the team will use Goodyear tyres this year.
Jos will be driving car number 18 this season. During the photo session Jos was sitting in the 025 briefly. He declared to have enough space in the car. "Only the pedal adjustment needs have to be improved" Jos said.
Teamowner Ken Tyrrell spoke the magic words: "The future is bright, the future is black and white", which of cours refers to the new colour scheme of the car. He also made it clear that the team hasn't had such a strong driver line-up since a very long time.
More pictures of the new car can be seen on our Tyrrell section.
Today it was also announced that in the Netherlands the Formula 1 races will be broadcasted on RTL4 in 1997. The Dutch and Belgian fans can again rely on the expert-commentators Olav Mol and Allard Kalff. RTL will show all the races live and will have direct broadcasting of qualifying at the European races. RTL4 has a contract for the duration of 1 year.
The other teams continued to test their '97 cars. At Jerez persistent rain hampered the teams of Stewart, McLaren and Ferrari. Let's hope that the Tyrrell team have more luck at their first test Wednesday at Silverstone.
