The final day of testing in Spielberg has gotten on its way under pretty good and dry conditions. On Wednesday morning, predominantly Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso made a lot of tracks. Those two teams, yet being so productive, were nevertheless to be found at the bottom on the leader board. On a test day that actually has no significance.
For now, it is Valtteri Bottas, driving for Williams, who is calling the shots. On the super softs the Fin noted a 1:10.029. Pascal Wehrlein, being in the Mercedes yesterday but behind the wheels of the Force India today, is second. Nico Rosberg, having won the Austrian Grand Prix last Sunday, follows in P3.
Marco Wittmann, performing for the very first time in Formula 1, has taken over the controls from Max Verstappen. The German DTM-Champion has done some 62 laps by now, and is now, considering his lap times, getting acclimatized in the STR10. “The car feels good. Braking and accelerating feel quite differently than what I am used to in DTM, but everything is going great”, according Wittmann after his first few laps.
