Jubilant Jos: "This is only the beginning"

Jos Verstappen, a seasoned F1 veteran, was emotional after seeing his son Max take a stunning fourth place at the Hungarian Grand Prix. “This is fantastic. I'm very happy for Max. He's gone through a lot in the past while and to claim a result like this is a great feeling. He drove terrifically today”, commented Jos on his son's best result in Formula 1.
Reflecting on the Grand Prix, Jos told Verstappen.nl: “Max initially had a good start, but he played it safe. He chose the inside where no one is going to be able to hit you but it meant he lost a few places. After that, he overtook Alonso and neatly worked his way through the field.” Jos was also delighted with Scuderia Toro Rosso's efforts. “The pit stops were executed well and at the right time. It meant Max came out on track ahead of Carlos and he was able to keep the momentum.”
“Of course you need a bit of luck, but you make your own luck by being at the right place at the right time”, continues Jos. “Near the end of the race I was nervous and hoping the car wouldn't break, fingers crossed! When he crossed the finished line I was so happy. The whole team was jumping and shouting, fantastic! I have to admit I had a bit of a lump in my throat and goose bumps.”
Despite this excellent result, Jos is convinced there is more to come. “It's abnormal what Max is doing. It's good for his confidence and he's reminded of what it takes: hard work and focus. This is just the beginning, there's way more to come, I can assure you that!”, reveals the proud father before concluding: “We all know what Max can do. Today was an example of that. And we will see more races like this. That Max, only seventeen years of age, finishes a Grand Prix in fourth, sends shivers down my spine. Incredible.”
