Max joins the online racing world champions

Published on 30 July 2015 by Stefan Meens

Max Verstappen has the joined the world's most successful simracing team, Team Redline. In the online realm, racers of every level compete against each other. The top drivers enter in competitions in which the line between virtual and real-world racing blurs. For Max, who had a brand new hightech Playseat installed at home earlier in the week, simracing is a challenging way to train.

"I enjoy simracing outside of Formula 1", says Max. "I've been working with Atze for a while already and of course with Team Redline and Fanatec I'll be sharing the virtual track with the fastest simracers in the world which is a great test and the way I like it!" For the time being, Max will not enter any simracing competitions as his busy schedule does not allow for it.

Redline's team manager Atze Kerkhof is delighted with the news: "I'm happy and honoured to have Max onboard at Team Redline! Looking forward to continue our sim battles like we did in the F3 last year." Team boss Dom Duhan added: "It's great having Max onboard, he was immediately incredibly fast in sim racing a unique natural talent, very proud to have him representing us in the sim racing world."

Max is not the only real-world racer joining the Redline ranks. Richie Stanaway (Aston Martin's WEC-driver en GP3-winner), Nick Catsburg (Blancpain GT3) and Kelvin van der Linde (Audi GT) all share the virtual tarmac with Max.

Team Redline was founded in May 2000 and quickly became the team to beat. The team has won over 100 individual and team based championships from the top levels of simracing, ranging from: iRacing, Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2. Several Redline racers are competing in the iRacing Drivers World Championship, which Greger Huttu won for the fourth time last year.
