Ferrari has unveiled its new F310B Formula 1 Grand Prix car. Chief Designer John Barnard stated that much of last year's F310 car was carried over in the new car to ensure reliability. Barnard retained the 1996 car's rear construction, suspension and seven-speed transverse titanium gearbox, whose faults are now said to be resolved. Track testing will begin tomorrow at Ferrari's Fiorano test track. After testing at Fiorano testing will be continued in Jerez, Spain in three sessions in January and February. The 046/2 engine, an evolution of last year's engine, will also be tested starting Wednesday.

Testing will be done by both Schumacher and Irvine. Former testdriver Nicola Larini, now with Sauber, will be replaced but this announcement will not be done shortly said technical director Jean Todt. Ross Brawn also appeared in public for Ferrari for the first time in his new role as technical coordinator. Read all about the new Ferrari on their own website.
