Tyrrell-Ford is all set for the first Grand Prix of this year on March 9 in Melbourne, Australia. Today Harvey Postlethwaite, Managing director of Tyrrell explained: "In these early races, reliability is absolutely critical. The mileage we have achieved this winter has enabled us to get most of the reliability bugs out of the car, whereas some of the teams may be doing a race distance for the first time in Melbourne. We have been able to balance the car well and I must say that it is a pleasure to be working with Cosworth again - they have been most supportive throughout the testing programme and the engine has proved to be very consistent."

On Jos Postlethwaite commented: "It is a joy to have Jos in the team. He has acquitted himself very well in testing and it is good for the team to have a racing driver who is thoroughly professional, but who also has a bit of spirit. He's a good lad to have around and I'm sure he will do very well this season."

Jos: "Tyrrell is a very friendly team and I am pleased that we have done an excellent job so far and I think we are looking good for Melbourne. The car feels good, the engine is reliable, I am very motivated and can't wait to start racing again."

It is a good thing to remark that Mika Salo had to qualify in the spare car last year in Melbourne and was still able to finish sixth, scoring a point in the very first race. The first Grand Prix of this year will start at 14.00 hrs. local time, which is 4.00 hrs. Central European Time in the morning. The race is held in Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia and last 58 laps around a 5.302 Km circuit, covering a total distance of 307.516 Kms.

For the Melbourne race, the Tyrrell-Ford will carry sponsorship from the Australian Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to heighten awareness of the campaign against drinking and driving in Australia.
