Due to the truckers strike in Spain ...

Published on 17 February 1997 by Verstappen Info Page

Due to the truckers strike in Spain the planned Tyrrell test session from February 18 thru 20 in Estoril will be moved to Silverstone. The test session will continue as planned on these days but the team had the bad luck that one truck already was in Estoril and couldn't return. A couple of Tyrrell employees have flown to Estoril and have taken the necessary parts with them on their return to England. The other trucks of the team are in Silverstone. It will be a different test than the one planned for Estoril because it is already raining in England and the weather forecast isn't too good for the next days.

The Italian prosecutor, Maurizio Passarini, in the case against Williams concerning the death of Ayrton Senna has declared that the picture that was published yesterday in the British newspaper Sunday Times doesn't change his conviction that Senna's death was caused by a crack in the steering column of his Williams. The picture shows a piece of wreckage that possibly was in Senna's path and that might have caused the accident. The case that will serve from Thursday on will be closely followed by the whole Motorsport community because this is the first time that a constructor would be prosecuted for the death of one of his drivers. The maximum penalty in this case in Italy is seven years in prison.
