Frenchman Alain Prost, 41 years old and 4 times F1 World Champion with 51 victories, has finally reached his goals in taking over Ligier and making it an 'all-French' team. Peugeot will supply the engines for the team for three years starting in 1998 and has declared today that the news will be officially announced tomorrow at a press-meeting. The last hurdle for Alain Prost was getting the agreement of all F1 teams to change the existing name in 'Prost Grand Prix' and had to wait until Wednesday to get the agreement of Eddie Jordan. Jordan will be using Peugeot engines for the last year in 1997.

Ligier was started in 1976 by Guy Ligier. The team was sold to Flavio Briattore in 1994 mainly to give Benetton access to Renault engines. Last year the team had one victory in Monaco where Olivier Panis finished first in a race where only three cars reached the finish. Prost is reported to have an eye on Ferrari (ex-)designer John Barnard and Renault's technical director Bernard Dudot.

PS. Don't forget that Jos will be present on the stand of F1 Racing at the AutoRAI in Amsterdam on friday and saturday!
