Max on the F1-demo in the snow: “Slippery and sliding, but much fun!”

Max Verstappen had to rise and shine very early Thursday. His alarm clock was set to five o’clock in the Austrian Kitzbühel, where the preparations started for his demo on the snowy piste at the base of the Hahnenkamm. There, the Scuderia Toro Rosso-driver made his Red Bull Racing RB7 (of 2011) roar, as he made his way through the snow.
“Driving a Formula 1-car in the snow was much fun!”, as Max starts talking to Verstappen.nl. “With minus thirteen degrees Celsius this morning, it was pretty cold. Just in my race-overall, it was chilly. It was slipping and sliding with the car and there was not much space on top of the mountain. But it did give us some nice shots!”
How was it to let all those horsepower loose on the icy surface? “I had to short shift and was not able to use all the gears. An F1-car is not built to drive in the snow and is actually too low. But it went better than expected. I was not able to do a complete donut, or else the car would have buried itself in the snow. But half a donut was doable. Nice to see that there were so many people present, great!”
After the interviews, where Max was able to brush up on his German for the Austrian media, the 18-year old driver hits the gym to get some workout. Will you also get on the ski’s? “Maybe. It’s been five years since that I have skied. But next week, I will attend the ski competition here on the Hahnenkamm. It will be the first time, that I will be present there, so I am pretty curious.”
