“I’ve been in Montreal once before, last year. I enjoyed it”, says Max Verstappen about the street circuit Gilles Villeneuve. “It was a new track for me but I got already a lot of tips from my dad. He really enjoyed this track and had some good results in Montreal. So I was ready for it. I quite enjoyed the race last year, and there are a lot of overtaking possibilities. So it’s a very interesting race because even when you start on pole position it’s not sure you’ll win the race.“
The Dutch Red Bull Racing driver says about the surroundings: “I haven’t really visited the city a lot but from what I could see it is very nice. I had a nice run on the hill, with a good view over the city. There are good shops with nice food and friendly people. In general, I like the American continent, it’s open and big. That’s what I like.”
Previewing the race, Max adds: “My hope for the race weekend is to have consistent results throughout. I’ll focus on qualifying, try to deliver a good result for the team and score a lot of points, wherever that will be. Hopefully upfront of course. I’m definitely looking forward to the power unit upgrade, I think it will help us a lot. I’ve tested with it in Barcelona and it all felt pretty good. So I’m looking forward to have it onboard in my car this time.”
